Home > Phra Nakhon > Ti Thong Road

Ban Chang Thong) - The old district was originally called Ban Chang Thong (literally means goldsmith house) which is the present Ti Thong Road stretching up till Khok Wua intersection. Since the reign of King Rama V, this area was the residential area of the Royal Goldsmith, and then gradually turned into the district where most of the inhabitants had their occupation in making gold leaves, the crafts of pounding pure gold into a thin as possible pieces used in the Thai decoration and painting patterns school of arts. But unfortunately, there are currently only 2 households in the area which still earn their living in making gold leaves.
