A new low-cost airline for the flights from London to South-East Asia
Until now, the cheapest way between Europe and South-East Asia was to use the Middle East airlines: Gulf Air, Qatar Airways, Etihad Airways or Emirates.
But now, AirAsia, the low-cost airline from Malaysia, is offering flights from London to Kuala Lumpur at a very attractive rate.
They’re currently running a promotion: GBP 199 (EUR 225) one way from London to Kuala Lumpur and GBP 149 (EUR 170) one way if you start your journey from Kuala Lumpur to London. In both cases, tickets have to be booked now and the travel period is specific, but at this price it is quite a bargain!
Of course this is the price for the Economy Seats (now AirAsia features Economy and XL seats for long haul flights) and I have heard that the Economy Seats for these kinds of flights are very limited in size and legs space.
I guess the food service is also very limited as well as onboard entertainment.
Then, to reach Bangkok from Kuala Lumpur, or Kuala Lumpur from Bangkok, a return ticket will cost you anywhere between EUR 60 and EUR 100.
If you happen to take one of these flights, let us know how it was.
Want to go to movie?
There is a good website to check whether the movie you want to see is showed in a theater near your place, or to find what movies are currently showing in Bangkok and in Thailand: Movieseer.
Movieseer is very easy to navigate. Click on the title on the left column. The central column will show you the movie synopsis, a movie review and a few facts, and the left column will display all theater actually showing this movie in Thailand.
Click on a theater of your choice to see the schedule.
Movieseer features also movie reviews from famous foreign movie critics, interviews and trailers.
A good article about Movieseer founder Roy Chapin can be read here.
How much is a fine?
How much are you going to pay for a parking ticket, a speeding ticket, or any other fine? I don’t know. I haven’t find an official list yet. Therefore I decided to create mine and update it on a regular basis.
This is the price you will pay for a fine at the police station when riding a scooter:
- Driving on another lane than the left lane (prohibited in Thailand!): 200 baht
- Passing at red light: 400 baht
- …
Send us your fine experiences to complete this list.

Bangkok Dangerous, the movie
What’s better than starting a new blog about Bangkok and Thailand with a post about a movie featuring Bangkok and Thailand?
Well, the problem is that Bangkok Dangerous is a pretty bad movie. Written and directed by the Pang Brothers and starring Nicolas Cage, the movie is a remake of the Pangs’ 1999 debut film of the same name, a Thai film for which Cage’s production company, Saturn Films, purchased the remake rights.
This is about a hitman, Joe (Nicolas Cage) who goes to Bangkok on an assignment to kill four people. He hires pickpocket Kong as his assistant and meets a beautiful deaf-mute girl along the way.
The plot is good. The thing is that the movie is actually boring: actors are not convincing, action is slow, atmosphere is weird… Bangkok Dangerous is everything but a good movie.
The only interesting fact is the way they arrange to film Bangkok in a kind of futuristic way. The city looks clean, modern… and dangerous!
If you haven’t seen the Bangkok Dangerous movie yet, believe me, don’t waste your money, wait for the DVD!
