Phra Athit fort was one of 14 forts that was constructed in the reign of King Rama I, and 12 of them were demolished. Only two forts remain. They are Phra Sumen and Mahakan Fort. Along Phra Athit road, they are many prince palaces and noblemen houses. The interesting sites along this road are Santichai Prakan Pavilion which was located in Santichai. Pakan Park, Chao Phraya's house which was the palace of Prince Kham Rop, UNICEF building which was the first palace of Prince Naret Worarit, house number 19 Tha Chang House (Tha Chang Office Residence) the residence of Mr. Pridi Banomyong (the former prime minister and statesman), and Phra Athit House which was the residence of HRH.
